Belmont Abbey College is a private Catholic college located in Belmont, NC. During my time there, I worked as part of a 4-person marketing team.
Along with serving the departments within the college as a multimedia designer, I worked to train 5 interns in Adobe Creative Suite, and I focused on designing print graphics and creating impactful video content. I worked on producing (from start to finish) two online courses, which were provided privately to BAC alumni, as well as promotional content.
One of my favorite projects was working on a testimonial video for an organization called Mira Via, which will be the focus of this case study.

Organization
Belmont Abbey College partners with an organization called Mira Via, whose focus is to provide college-age women with support with unplanned pregnancies. For this project, we interviewed one of the young women who went through the program and is a now a part-time employee, helping others who are in the same shoes.
MiraVia is a Catholic non-profit organization whose focus is on helping young pregnant mothers have the resources they need to build a happy, healthy family, even when the pregnancy is unplanned.
Having values that align with Belmont Abbey, which is a private Catholic college, MiraVia has a site on the Abbey's premises to assist college-age women in one of the most crucial moments of their lives. MiraVia provides housing for the young women, as well as materials and resources for their babies. Students who join the program are also given a scholarship to continue their education for free, and MiraVia offers childcare, so the young women can attend classes.
With such amazing opportunities, MiraVia wasn't well-known on campus, so we decided to create a video interview as a campaign to let students know what resources are right at their fingertips.
What is MiraVia?
For this project, we not only interviewed Emilia, but we also gathered B-roll to use for the final production.
First, we visited the MiraVia campus and took a tour, recording various aspects of the facility. We also got to meet Debbie, the director, to learn more about the program. Later, we scheduled time with Emilia to capture footage of her at work in the Admissions office at Belmont Abbey College, where she was working as a staff member.
Finally, we conducted the interview on campus with two camera angles for A-roll and B-roll. We used two DSLR cameras and a lapel mic, with natural sunlight for the shot. The video was edited using a combination of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.

Emilia Pippen's inspiring story
Emilia is an inspiring young woman. Having gone through the program at MiraVia herself, she completed her degree and moved on to work as a staff in the Belmont Abbey Admissions Department, as well as joining MiraVia part-time to assist with other young women currently walking in her shoes.
Watch to hear Emilia's powerful story and where she is it today.

Through Emilia's testimonial, many students were informed about the program, including one young mother who felt she might have to drop out due to an unplanned pregnancy.
This interview was not only shared with students, but also debuted at a Pro-Life conference, Life in America After Roe, which was hosted at the college, to share that resources are available for all who choose to bring their children into the world.

Currently, the MiraVia testimonial has been viewed over 900 times on Belmont Abbey College's YouTube channel.
